Ron Lagerstrom serves as a consultant, spiritual director, and retreat leader for Christian pastors and churches. He is a lifelong member of the Evangelical Covenant Church, where he served as pastor in four parish churches during his 50 years of ministry. Ron completed a D.Min. in spiritual formation and direction through Fuller Theological Seminary and has had intensive training in spiritual direction at Mercy Center in Burlingame. He is associated with the Upper Room Ministries of the United Methodist Church, serving as a trainer and leader for the Companions in Christ small group program for local churches. Ron serves as a volunteer at Friendship Park, a homeless ministry in Sacramento. His life is greatly enriched as he “comes alongside” others to encourage practices of spiritual growth and discernment in the ways of God.

Intimacy with God
Entering transforming friendship with God through developing a life of intimate prayer and devotion is the focus of this time. Using the spiritual classics of men and women of God who have entered that intimacy, we can be helped to discover the depths of relationship ourselves. The writings of various ancient and contemporary saints used in the time include Evelyn Underhill, Catherine of Sienna, John Wesley, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, and others as the Spirit moves.
Centering Prayer
Developing a life of prayer that creates openness to God’s Spirit through silence and a listening heart.
Developing a Rule of Life
A personally suited ‘rule of life’ helps the individual live in a more focused way, saying “Yes” to the best and “No” to the many good things that distract from the primary call of God. The retreat provides different windows into discerning and living into the corevalues and relationships of one’s life related to God, family, neighbors, and church.
Companions in Christ Leadership Training
Ron has been a part of the Upper Room Ministry training team for a number of years, and has a passion for training laypersons to lead the Companions in Christ small group spiritual formation process. He has helped the Upper Room to test and pilot different series and continues to facilitate and co-lead a small group for Bread of Life each year.
